Since its foundation, Nissui has placed great importance on R&D (Research and Development). In 1920, shortly after its establishment, we founded the Hayatomo Fishery Research Institute, Japan's first private fisheries research institute. Since then, inheriting our Founding Principles and Five Genes,we have strived to contribute to social and industrial development through innovative achievements. In 2011, our 100th anniversary year, we established the Tokyo Innovation Center as the core of technological development to support our next century. Nissui's R&D continues to take on challenges to address various societal issues through food, regardless of the era.

Nissui operates Marine Products, Food Products, and Fine Chemicals businesses, conducting R&D across these diverse business domains. We have particular strengths in technologies related to breeding, various aquaculture technologies, fish oil refinement, and food additives, while in the food sector, we conduct distinctive research on aroma and taste. Furthermore, our R&D employees represent diverse specialized fields, and we fundamentally value our approach of channeling our comprehensive capabilities into new challenges that drive business innovation.

As R&D working to realize our long-term vision of becoming "a leading company that delivers friendly foods for people and the earth" as set forth in "Good Foods 2030," we are implementing an intellectual property strategy to enhance value creation by maximizing the potential of materials sourced by the Nissui Group globally. Meanwhile, our three main businesses depend on various ecosystem services, and any compromise to the sustainability of natural capital poses a significant risk. Our R&D focuses on "continuously refining technologies to fully utilize limited food resources" with an eye toward a sustainable future. We are advancing technological development through open innovation with domestic and international companies and research institutions, working on alternative proteins, Health Category Products, advancement of aquaculture technology, manufacturing process improvements, and utilization of cutting-edge technologies.

Our R&D focuses on sustainable food and health innovation. We explore diverse food possibilities to create "innovative food solutions that enrich both heart and body" and "innovative food solutions that address social challenges," contributing to resolving global food security issues. To meet the expectations of customers of all generations, we continuously incorporate new technologies and knowledge to develop products that bring joy to people worldwide.
