Cité Marine (Nissui Group) expands business domains

Miti (Rezé , FRANCE), a subsidiary of Cité Marine (Kervignac, FRANCE), a France-based manufacturer and distributor of seafood including chilled coated and frozen products, and also a group company of Nissui Co., Ltd. (Representative Director, President & CEO: Shingo HAMADA, Minato-ku, Tokyo, JAPAN) acquired a factory in Saint-Hernin from Guyader Traiteur Frais (Landrévarzec, FRANCE) on June 28th and started operations as a new production division on July 1st. The objective of the acquisition is to expand the product range of Tapas products, which is our future growth category.

Tapas originated from small plates served as appetizers in bars in Spain. A variety of tapas are also sold in the chilled food sections of mass retailers in France. This category is growing due to the freshness and convenience of the products, which are thought highly of in France. Cité Marine has a high market share in the same chilled seafood section with the coated white fish. We are planning to extend our presence with seafood tapas products.
Miti, which Cité Marine acquired in 2017, is already producing tapas products from shrimps. We will expand its product lineup including octopus, squid, and sardines with the newly acquired Saint-Hernin plant.

Since joining the Nissui Group, Cité Marine has remarkably grown in its frozen/chilled white fish/shrimp products and has made a significant contribution to the realization of the Nissui Group's long-term vision for 2030, "Good Foods 2030," which aims to accelerate global expansion.
With this acquisition, Cité Marine aims to develop tapas into a next pillar of the business and further expand its business with a view of distributing not only in France but also in neighboring countries in the future.　
In this way, we will expand the Nissui Group's overseas food business and deliver new "food" to people around the world.
